ELPHIN MOUNTAIN CONNEMARAS
Cid is a well-bred mare who has competed to Medium level dressage (Third Level) and has had one foal by the Trakehner stallion Carino. Despite her size she is both light on her feet and easy to work around. Cid has lived out for most of her life and tries to be as tough as the ponies with whom she currently resides!

Her sire, Merkur was bred by the Trakehner Gesellschaft, FRG, and was imported in November of 1977 by Gerhard Schickedanz, following his approval at Neumünster. He stood at Galten Farms, Unionville, Ont, from 1978 to 1990. In 1991 and until his death in 1992 he stood at Smoky Ridge Farm, Oxford, MI. Merkur sired numerous dressage and hunter performance horses as well as 5 sons approved by the American Trakehner Association.

Comments from German Trakehner Stallion Book on Merkur:
Stallion of undeniable overall significance; great lines; expressive in his chisled appearance; his ears are somewhat broadly set; his way of going is ground covering and very elastic.
Cid's dam Hy-Dee was a registered Canadian Sport Horse who had a successful dressage career. She was an excellent broodmare, producing foals by Carino (Trak), Cor Noir (Holst) and Riverman (Holst). Hy-Dee's sire, My King, was the legendary 17 hh chestnut Rheinlander, approved by the German society as well as the Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association and the Canadian Hunter Improvement Program.
