Elphin Ceileadh

Ceileadh is the third of our Connemara/TB crosses. She is a 1997 chestnut mare out of After The Party (bay TB mare). Ceileadh (pronounced Kay-lee) is the name for a Celtic party, so we thought it was rather appropriate!

L-R: Party, Ceileadh as a weanling and her babysitter, Oak Hills Gold Friday.

She was sold to Cat Hunter of Spencerville, Ontario as a yearling. Cat says of Ceileadh: "Yep, I think Ceileadh is finally growing. She put on about 4 inches in the fall and still looks leggy. She may make 15 hh yet. I don't really have any photos of Ceileadh that do her any justice but I'll get the camera going in the spring when she's shed out and take some for you. I'm planning on finally doing something with Ceileadh this year other than just feeding her... Man she has an attitude. I love it !!!! She also makes detours in the field to jump over things including my dogs! I could have sold her a few weeks ago, I had people in looking at a pony I had for sale and they saw her and wanted her instead! They can't have her!"

Sadly for Cat and her family, Ceileadh was killed in a freak pasture accident - a tree branch pierced her windpipe. Our sypathies to everyone and may Cat have better luck with her new Mick baby, Elphin Turlough.
