Elphin Domnach Casja

Elphin Domnach Casja, or Cosh as he is common known, is the first of Mick and Friday's foals.

Cosh was born in 1992 and is a 14.1hh palomino roan gelding. His name is Gaelic for Easter Sunday, the day upon which he was born, along with Elphin Sunday Surprise, a QH cross filly.

Cosh was sold to Chris Carey in Quebec, and was ridden by her daughter Hillary Lecluse for several years. Hillary and cosh competed in events and Pony Clubbed together.

When Hillary outgrew Cosh, he was sold on to New York as a dressage mount.

In 2003 Cosh was sold on again to Nancy Haines of Ashby, Maine. He was intended as a Pony Club mount for her daughters, but has inspired Nancy to start riding again and take up dressage! Although not a beginners ride, Nancy hopes that her kids will grow into Cosh, who loves children.

From the 2008 Summer edition of the Region 1 ACPS Newsletter, Connemara Bits & Pieces:

Elphin Domnach Casja ("Cosh" as he is affectionately known around the barn) and his half brother Elphin Quinn ("Quinny") getting a nice bath after a spring ride. Both boys were sired by Maplehurst Michael MacDaire and born in 1992 at Elphin Mountain Farm in Ontario,Canada. They spent their first years cavorting through the fields together and then were sold and went their separate ways. Last fall Quinn, now owned by Ellen Bryan of Concord, came to live at Wynndover Farm in Salisbury, NH and, as life has a way of coming full circle, was united once again with his half brother "Cosh" now owned by Hannah Howard proprietor of the farm. Hannah and Ellen often ride together. This photo was taken during “bath time” while Ellen was finishing up. Just beyond the trees several other horses were still being ridden in the ring; the brothers were riveted in fascination watching their poor pasture mates still at work!
