Elphin Lorcan

Elphin Lorcan is a 14.1 hh dark bay stallion out of Aluinn dé Haoine. Lorcan was Dee's first colt foal, born in 1998. His name means little lord in Gaelic. It suits him, as he certainly has a lovely stallion presence.

In November of 2000 Lorcan was sold to Brian Donnegan of Drogheda Farm in Calgary, Alberta. Lorcan made his trip out west around Christmas time, and arrived in the middle of a blizzard. We wish Brian all the best with his new stallion!

On April 4th 2002, Lorcan's first foal was born at Drogheda Farm. Drogheda's Bluebird is a chestnut filly out of Drogheda's Lavender and Brian tells us she is already sold!

Brian had Lorcan professionally started under saddle and he has competed him on the line successfully, Lorcan was the 2002 Parkland Show Champion Connemara. In September 2003, ACPS Region 11 Chair Susan MacDougal visited Drogheda Farm and wrote an article for the Western Canada Connemara Pony Association.

Lorcan became an ICCPS inspected and approved stallion in 2003. He is now siring get who are winning on the line. His daughter Drogheda's Sioban, out of Bally's Fancy China, won the Sport Pony (2yr & under) class at the Westerner show in Alberta against Welsh and now belongs to M & M Connemaras in British Columbia.

Lorcan's got a great home, does our farm name proud and is contributing to the breed in a great way. We are very proud of him!
