Elphin Turlough

Turlough is Dee's 4th foal and second colt by Mick. He was born in 2001, a dark bay who then turned grey. Turlough was born on a Thursday morning, and since his grandmother's name was Gold Friday and his mother's name means Beautiful Friday in Gaelic, we decided his name should relate to Thursday. We discovered in our Irish name book that Turlough means "in the image of Thor", god of Thursday, and so he was named.

Below are some photos from October 2015 when Turlough and his owner Cat Hunter went on a Ladies Weekend trail ride in Parc Nature les Forestiers, Saint-Lazare, Quebec.

Spot the Connemara! Hint: he's the grey!


September fun is a poker run! Connemaras help charity: Elphin Turlough (below) on the left with owner Cat Hunter in 2015. Cat was joined by her daughter Fiona (r) at the Rooney's Make-A-Wish ride-a-thon in Limerick, Ontario. Rooney Feeds annual poker run raised $17,636 for the Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario childrens' charity this year.

Turlough was sold to Catriona Hunter of Frome, Ontario in 2004 as a riding pony for both Cat and her daughter. Cat sent Turlough out for some professional training in the summer of 2005 and he is doing well
